So far, so good . . .

(This post was originally posted by Clinkers (David) on the Coronation Street Blog in February 2011.)

I have to admit that, give the excitement of the December episodes, I was a little worried of a post-Christmas anti-climax feel to the New Year episodes. To date, I don't think I should have been all that concerned. The storylines have kept the action bubbling along and some of them have been a complete joy. The new versions of Sally and Kevin are fantastic. Sally seems determined to build herself a new future whereas Kevin decided to come out all guns blazing! There's going to be no civilised divorce in the Webster household and hopefully (for us) no amicable friendship in the future!

Tracy's return hasn't been quite as painful as expected. Yes, she's still the same selfish creature that she used to be but was that a small sign of humanity I spotted in respect of the Peter/Liane/Nick saga?

Maybe one or two aspects of the show seem a little ragged. As the wonderful Tvor has already pointed out, the Lloyd/Cheryl love-in came from nowhere. Dev has largely disappeared and Sunita exists only to gossip with Audrey. Plus the scriptwriters seem to be wringing the last shreds of decency out of Fiz, whose change in character seems awkward at best.

Peter Barlow's aura of dark menace has been wonderfully played by Chris Gascoyne and, for once, the character was not portrayed as a complete sap. Leanne beware! In the same vein, Gary Windass also quite rightly took centre stage for a moving storyline.

For me then, a quite positive start to 2011 in Weatherfield but what about you? What's hot and what's not in Weatherfield as far as you are concerned?
