Hayley's test results are worrying. It might be nothing. Roy's fussing but Sylvia doesn't think women want men mithering. Hayley isn't going to say anything and knowing Hayley she won't say anything until there's something to tell. Roy's fallen asleep on the couch and they're both pleased. I daresay falling asleep was never the issue. It was the getting up in the middle of a good dream that was. You can tell Hayley's worried, now she's the one not sleeping and Sylvia knows something's up.

It's nice that after a somewhat rocky start, Hayley and Sylvia have made good friends. Hayley hasn't had her own mother in her life for a very long time so it's nice to have someone to confide in. Hayley's snapping and on edge. Fiz might notice sooner than later.

Meanwhile, Roy is throwing himself into the New Age philosphies with a vengeance. As you would expect of Roy. He's also a bit concerned that Hayley has gone shopping with no clear purpose apparently. In reality, The scan showed up some worrying results but the technician isn't really supposed to give away anything like she did. The GP is the one that tells the news. Now I've got a *really* bad feeling.  There's a blockage in the bile duct so there needs to be another test. Hayley needs to know the worst case scenario even though the doctor doesn't know for sure.

A couple of meditation sessions and some herbal tea, and Roy's sleepwalking is cured. No wonder Hayley didn't want to say anything until she knows, rather than put stress on him all over again. Hayley's distracted at work, too, and counting up wrong. Why Hayley gets scolded for it, I don't know but Carla was instantly on her side when she found out something was up with her health. Meanwhile Roy's ordering tango tickets for Hayley. Or he was trying to until Tracy bullied him into serving her, unable to wait a few more minutes. Carla was very supportive but Hayley didn't want her to stay on after the test. She probably should have anyway because it doesn't look like the news is good. You don't see the specialist immediately after the scan unless there's a problem. Pancreatic Cancer, and Hayley freezes.

Carla tore a strip off Peter and Peter ran for home. He feels emasculated because Carla basically owns him. Wow, though, Deirdre was amazing, she stood up for Peter and told Tracy and Rob holy hell. And Rob took the opportunity to get in a few digs at Carla. Deirdre has probably spent a few hours with Peter bending her ear and then when Carla came looking for him, he left and she had Carla to prop up. That was a rather nice little scene, actually, between the two women.

Peter's pride is bruised and battered and careening towards bankruptcy. He thinks he can fix things but... maybe it's time for a change. He won't think so. He's got to swallow that pride but he also needs to make smarter decisions with the business. I guess it wasn't so smart for her to hand Peter cash in front of Rob but it gave Carla another chance to dump all over Rob and that means he'll be even more anxious to show her up. I'm still enjoying watching all the Barlow/Connor dysfunction. The dynamics are quite interesting.

Carla really feels in the middle between Rob and Peter in spite of wanting nothing to do with Rob. Gotta say, though. Peter was rather dismissive of Rob and that was a bit unfair. Warning him was one thing, belittling him was another and that's going to have Rob out for revenge good and proper now and what's his revenge? Placing a bet that could bankrupt Peter for good if the accumulator comes in. And it did on a technicality. And because of the rivalry, Peter took the bet. And lost. Peter doesn't want to pay but then he doesn't have the money, 35 thousand.

By law Peter has to pay and Rob is not going to back down. Carla's trying to find a way around it but Peter figures selling up is the only solution. Probably the best solution. If he can manage to get rid of it.

Rob made a nice little commission on repossessing the car and he wants to go ahead with Tracy's business idea. She's sulking because he doesn't think she can put any money into it so it won't be part hers. Where's Tracy going to get the money? Stealing from her parents? No, Amy's got years of bank account built up. Typical, that, but Deirdre found out. As if she needed another reason not to like Rob.

Carla's harsh words still had their intended effect on Rob's self confidence. Deirdre doesn't like Rob and is suspicious finding Tracy poking around in cupboards. Tracy's defending stealing Amy's money. Tracy says she's got dreams. She can't understand why she gets the short end of Deirdre's opinion, saying all the bad things Peter's done. Um. But he isn't a murderer and he hasn't stolen money from his kid. But her dreams aren't going to get her any further than Ken's did. Having said that, pawnbrokers is probably the perfect business for Rob and Tracy. Tracy thinks she and Rob have a happy successful future but Deirdre thinks Rob is using her. I think that's more the case. Not using, exactly, but he's not looking for a committment either.

Peter thought he'd sell the bookies but Rob wants his money and he's got Peter up against a wall. Tracy had the idea to get her feet under the bookies' counter for no rent to make up the difference of the owed money. And I don't think, legally, Peter does have to pay the win though of course, it ruins his reputation if he doesn't.

Norris has realized the expense in owning a house. Why has this only just occurred to him? I'm enjoying Emily and Rita playing with Norris and ordering the expensive things off the menu because they coerced him into paying. Then Rita and Dennis both had Emily and Norris worried when they suggested it would have been easier just to get married! Wonderful stuff! I love watching Norris squirm! He deserves everything he gets.

Hmm Norris is proud to be a home owner. Owning a successful business is even more status in my view. A pile of bills is going to make him think twice and now he thinks Emily should be sharing the bills or at least, pay rent. But he signed a contract saying he has to pay it all. Small print will get you every time.

Sophie's getting to be a self-righteous prig isn't she? All the friendships are showing cracks now. Paul can't do anything but fume and glare across the pub and everyone's treating him like a "pirahna" (throwback to Les Battersby there!) But leave it to Tracy to be the rudest and most obnoxious of them all, just because she can and to tell you the truth, that was quite funny!

Paul is sulking about the punishment not fitting the crime. All he has to do is apologize but he doesn't see why he has to be the only one. He started it. It was not meant to be offensive, what he said, but it did offend and his pride got in the way of backing down. Now he feels it's gone too far. He's being an idiot. Mandy and Eileen have conspired to get the two of them talking. In a public place, probably not the best idea. The apology was a bit underhanded. He's sorry for how it turned out? Not for what he said.

Ooh there's Maria and Marcus. We don't see them much aside from that one token wedding storyline. They've got a lot of work wants doing in the flat. Marcus' list was a bit over-long. Mandy and Jenna are still at odds and apparently Lloyd and Mandy are as well.  Audrey has a damp patch, so does the salon flat apparently. I wouldn't go to Owen if i was her, he's going to overcharge. Jason wants the work and will be a lot more reasonable.  Sylvia knows how to send text messages!

Audrey's birthday! Some people remember and some people don't. Owen had bad news for Audrey. A lot of damp. I wonder if it's just Owen jumping up his prices again? Hayley's wearing her red anorak. In July.

David's holding down the fort while Nick and Leanne were off on a loved up weekend but even after they came back all happy, David still managed to shoot them down a bit. He wasn't happy that N&L are all happy again. Cue Trading Standards. Nick's watering down the booze. Well, he isn't, David is. Someone needs to start doing the math. Anonymous tip about drugs. Anonymous tip about watered drinks. Anna's really being a bitch to Tim, not wanting to let Tim spend any time with Faye. He's most definitely making eyes at Sally. How much you want to bet he won't leave after all? I figure Sally will encourage him to stay and fight for Faye and he'll want to "get closer" to her, too.
